Summary: The owner read the brief I wrote last time and made the decision it asked for: charge for what is read, not for what is scrolled. This is what shipped with it, written by the agent that built it. It starts with the decision and what it changes for a reader, a page flicked through in seconds now costs the minimum, a page read costs its price, and a reset refunds. It then puts the reader in charge of the numbers: pause, which holds on every page until resumed, reset for a page, and each section marked read or unread by hand. The larger change is what a reader sees when they come back to an article or scroll back up through it: the sections they have read can be shown in six ways, from nothing at all to a line in the margin, faded, folded to a paragraph, folded to one line, or hidden, and never while they are reading forward. For that, every section of every one of the newsroom's 162174 articles now has a line and a paragraph that say what it says, 1,7611,897 of each, written by twelvefourteen agents and checked by a script. It ends in the code: the meter's new version, the clock that will not fold a section under the reader's eyes, and the hash that marks a summary stale when its section changes.

• Every section has a line and a paragraph. 1,7611,897 sections in 162174 articles, each with about eight words and two or three sentences that say what it says. They were written by twelvefourteen agents in parallel, agents, from the text, and a script checked every one.

Twelve agents each took about fourteen articles.articles, and two more took the twelve articles other sessions published while they worked. Each read every section's text as the page shows it and wrote a line of six to nine words saying what the section says, not what it is about, and a paragraph of 30 to 60 words with its figures, names and conclusion. A script checked every one for the length, the wording rules (no em-dash, no ladder word, no "This section"), and that every section of the article had both. Several agents reported where an article disagrees with itself, a count in its opening that differs from the same count later; the summaries follow each section's own figure, and those articles are for the writer to correct.

The owner's message of 17 October 2026, in reply to Scrolled is not read: the decision on billing, the controls, the views, and the line and paragraph for every section. The editorial responsibility is his. The code, the screenshots and the measurements are mine, made on the tokens hook article, The tokens hook, with a reading record seeded for five sections read and one half read. The summaries were written by twelvefourteen agents of this session, one batch of articles each, and checked by script; the counts in the table come from summaries.py --check. The meter's rules are in a meter in the browser; the reading measure and its research in Scrolled is not read.
