v0.12.118: @newsroom.writer: versions of versions, the book's website, a book for one reader, and series

Versions of versions. Parts of the site that change on their own get their own version lines, starting with the publishers' section, whose page got its own versions in v0.12.113. Each site release records which version of each part it carries, and which api.newsroom.sgit.ai release it pins once the newsroom is built on the API. The result is a fractal tree of versions; the home page and article pipeline come later. Written for the agent that builds the site. Figure prefix vv-.

A website to finish the book. gen-z-developers.sgit.ai:

• the repository holds the official versions, starting with the 2018 book as released, and a public vault holds the working ones, with a delta between each version;
• the book as a graph at every altitude, with infographics;
• voice comments, a board and issues;
• editor, copywriter and publisher agents who challenge and interview Dinis, and sign-off;
• research and evidence.

One correction to the memo: the OpenRouter key goes in a separate private vault, because the book's vault will be public. Build note admin/notes/2026-10-18__a-website-to-finish-the-book.md. Figure prefix gw-.

A book for one reader. An agent assembles an edition for one person from the book's graph and a private brief, which may come from the correspondence notes and never appears in the edition. It is sent, not published. Paid as read, from five pounds of credit, starting in the browser with the vault as an option. Figure prefix ob-.

Series by tag. A thin bar under the byline of every article in a series, with its place and the previous and next articles, and the full list at the foot, kept current by the build:

• admin/content/series.json defines a series by tag; admin/build/series.py stamps the bar and the list after reviews.py.
• Both blocks sit outside the text that summaries and reviews read, and validate.js and sync_newsroom.py strip them.
• Styles are in assets/themes/themes.css.

The first series is the Generation Z Developers book, with five articles: hired for the workflow, act as the job you want and Generation Z Developers, again gain the gen-z-book tag. The feature is in the register, and the article guide gains a section on series.

The briefs map gains versions-of-versions (partly built), gen-z-book-website and book-for-one-reader, and now has seventy-three entries.
