Four new articles written here from four voice memos, cross-linked as a series.
Software vendors should become villagers and town planners argues that users can now rebuild the part of a product they need, that what stops them is maintenance, and that vendors should sell that maintenance, with Firefox as the example (Firefox 157's compact mode, Firefox Enterprise, Mozilla's 2024 accounts). Explorer coding proposes a better name for vibe coding and the handover to villagers and town planners, with the Linux kernel's and Fedora's rules on accountability. The value of constraints explains what client-side encryption and open source gave sgit, and corrects the memo's GDPR claim (GDPR Articles 32 and 34(3)(a), EDPB Recommendations 01/2020, the ICO). A custom Firefox of my own is the full plan for a custom Firefox on the laptop and the iPad with a Ruflo hive, an sgit vault and a behaviour policy, and the business model for Mozilla. Ten figures and four graphs.
