Two new articles written here from a voice memo, the start of a series on making books from the newsroom's articles.

Books from articles explains why books stall at 60 to 95% (the Leanpub shelf, the graphs books) and why the articles do not, states the hypothesis that a book is an ordered set of finished articles plus the editorial thread, maps the material for four candidate books, and sets out a plan to have author copies at Web Summit in Lisbon, 9 to 12 November, with Amazon KDP's published review times and author-copy rules. The graphs books tells the story of the three books written by agents on graphs.sgit.ai in August: what each argues, the altitude ladder, the book as a graph, why the making-of read better, where the change-control workflow stopped, and what now runs in this newsroom. Six figures, four of them screenshots of graphs.sgit.ai.
