A new article, a companion to Who will fix your mess?: what happened when the owner tried to pay Harvard Business Review for the one article he wanted to answer. From LinkedIn, the link led to "If you only read HBR on Linkedin, you're only getting part of the story" and three subscriptions (£11 a month, or from £8.75 a month billed yearly); the article page's "Buy Copies" link sells it as a reprint at $11.95, or $9.75 a copy for five to ten. The arithmetic: HBR.org's own feed lists 45 articles in September 2026, so a month of the digital plan is about 24p an article, or 55p for twenty. Then ten things a reader could buy from one article, eight of which run on this newsroom (the article as read, the reading record, the vault, personas, the argument as a graph, the vocabulary, the evidence, other versions) and two proposed (a licence to quote with a share passed to the publisher, and a check of the reader's use), and why LinkedIn readers are a market, not a leak.

Figures: the cost of one article, the ten billable units, two screenshots of hbr.org and two of this newsroom's reader card and account. Who will fix your mess? now links to it.
