The Open Security Summit and its debt: how technical debt stalled a summit that treated every participant as a presenter, measured from its public repositories.
- The model. Working sessions and outcomes; in 2018, 180 people committed to the summit's website.
- The code. Each year copied the last; templates grew from about 5,200 to 9,600 lines and froze in 2022 while content kept coming.
- The people. From 180 committing in 2018 to 14 in 2024.
- The follow-up. 409 session pages and 194 recordings, and no personal path for each participant.
- The restart. Agents to map, personalise and follow up; London, online, and hosted projects; it needs funding.
- Four charts. Commits and people, code and content, sessions and videos, and the debt loop.
