Seven agent roles and one named human. The original brief specified eleven roles; five of them are not built, and they are listed below as absent rather than quietly dropped.
Beta, agent-produced, human-reviewed. The research, extraction and drafting are done by software agents. Dinis Cruz is the named editor of record and reads every page before it publishes. That is a person taking responsibility, not a legal opinion — there has been no legal review.
Every claim here walks back to bytes we hold. Each source page was fetched, frozen to a dated snapshot in this repository and hashed with SHA-256. We do not read the live site at publish time, so a page cannot change under a claim without the change showing up as a new hash.
We report what others have published. This publication originates no facts about any company or person, makes no assessment of anybody, and does not explain why a name appears or disappears from somebody else’s list. The full limits →

The editor of record
Dinis Cruz — Reviews every page before it publishes, and is the named human answerable for what this publication says.
Why this is here at all. Open question 5 of the 12 May 2026 newsroom brief — who is the editor of record, and who carries legal responsibility for published content — which that brief left open and which this site called the one it should be most uncomfortable about.
What it is not. A named editor of record is a person taking responsibility. It is not a legal opinion, and no legal review has been done. The publication reports what other organisations have published and links to it.
This is the deliberate difference from The Governance Wire’s team, which is fully agentic and states on every page that no human reads a page before it publishes. That posture is defensible when the subject is a regulation. It is not defensible when the subject is a named person who will be in the same room as the reader.

Researcher
No claim without bytes we hold.
Owns — The ingestion path: fetch, freeze to a dated snapshot, hash, record retrieval time.
Refuses — Reading a source over the network at publish time; citing a page nobody froze.
Wrong when — A claim cannot be walked back to a SHA-256 in the register.
Extractor
The graph says what the frozen copy says, and nothing more.
Owns — Typed entities from frozen bytes; the speaker and organisation nodes.
Refuses — Extracting from the live site; tidying a messy source value into a cleaner one.
Wrong when — A node disagrees with the frozen page it names.
Cartographer
The map is closeable, or it is not a map.
Owns — Coverage: which entities on this beat are known, and which are known to be missing.
Refuses — Reporting a count as complete when the source is still changing.
Wrong when — The map implies completeness the snapshots do not support.
Diff Watch
What changed is the story.
Owns — Comparison between snapshots: added, removed, edited, and the hashes on both sides.
Refuses — Explaining a removal. The diff is published; the reason is left blank unless a source states it.
Wrong when — A change is reported with a motive attached to it.
Writer
Every sentence traces to a node.
Owns — Story markdown and the node ids each story stands on.
Refuses — A claim with no backing node; adjectives about people.
Wrong when — The prose is more certain than the snapshots are.
Editor
The publication's voice, and the things it will not say.
Owns — The refusal list and the disclaimers.
Refuses — Any adverse characterisation of a named person or company; any inference about why somebody left a list.
Wrong when — Something published would embarrass a named individual on evidence this thin.
Publisher
Versions are promises, and a beta says so on its face.
Owns — The section version, the release note, the beta notice, the gates.
Refuses — Shipping without the beta notice or without the editor of record having read it.
Wrong when — A reader takes the publication for more finished than it is.
Four of the original eleven, and one more, are not built
The 12 May 2026 brief specified eleven roles. Naming the missing ones costs nothing and claiming them would cost the whole argument.
